The most important Duszniki resources are curative mineral springs that belong to the group of slit sources springs. These waters flow out of the metamorphic rocks (spallation schists), and made in the depth volcanic carbon dioxide saturates underground waters of falling originate, and owing to that they have better ability to resolve rocks.

Variety of curative waters allowed to develop one of the most important town functions, namely, spa therapeutics. There are two trade sanatoriums (Railway Sanatorium, Chemik Sanatorium) and three other sanatoriums and two spa hospitals. Duszniki Zdrój spa has at its disposal the full scope of curative services, i.e. physiotherapeutic measures, specialist examinations, analytic-diagnostic examinations, drinking treatments and diet treatment.

After 1945, Duszniki became one of the most popular spa and holiday place in Poland. Already in 1946 the 1 International Chopin Festival was organized here, former pensions and hotels were converted into spa hospitals, sanatoriums and holiday houses. Old mineral water intakes were closed and new, including Mineral Water well-room, were built. The basis of the current spa part includes: Physiotherapeutic Center that services full range of health treatments, two spa hospitals, numerous sanatoriums, holiday centers, hotels, pensions, restaurants, cafes and bars.

The Fryderyk Chopin Spa Theater was constructed in 1802-1805 as a social house where spa cultural life of that time concentrated. The theater was built with a group of three other buildings around the spa park. Construction work was conducted by a carpenter Kretschmer and a bricklayer Stiller. H. Geissler was the architect. In 1808 to the north side of the building a billiard room was attached. In 1826 Fryderyk Chopin gave concerts in it. The theater is situated near the Bystrzyca Dusznicka river, in the spa park. At present, many grand piano concerts, theater plays, spa concerts and music evenings take place in here.
